ILiA Evolution Doing, Being, Becoming
Part 2 (Being) - ILiA: Who we are today
The current members of the ILiA Board met in January, 2010 in Pacific Grove, CA on the heels of the Integral Spiritual Experience New Year’s event. The purpose of the workshop, led by Mike Hohnen, was to conduct a comprehensive analysis of ILiA’s past, present and future by examining the Who, What, Why and How of ILiA.
The experience proved to be both profound and pivotal. We came together in love to nurture an emerging organization – to fortify her wings so she can fully realize her potential. The Board, as a collective, relaxed into trust manifesting a creative thrust. We were delighted, renewed with strength and vigor, and encouraged by faith and belief. We held each other with such high regard that our individual and collective capacities expanded and intertwined; a strong willingness erupted to execute our shared mission and be a meaningful force in the world.
With an inspired sense of purpose, we created ILiA’s compelling WHY:
We come together to:

PRACTICE
|
LOVE |
SERVE

We remembered the beginning foundational idea that ILiA is a “gathering of tribe” and should be a conference that the organizers themselves would want to attend. A traditional conference structure is normally heavy in cutting edge information and is didactic by its nature (i.e., talking heads illuminating passive participants). Yes, upper-left learning is valuable AND cultivating a loving WE space harnesses the power to transform intention into service.
In the spirit of embracing a BOTH/AND perspective, ILiA has developed a new configuration. ILiA is structured as a collaborative meaning the participants, presenters and organizers are all ONE within the container. A collaborative is cooperative, dynamic, inter-active and carries an inherent capacity for co-creation.
Within the collaborative container, on an annual basis ILiA will meet during the October timeframe and will alternate between a “traditional” conference event and a “tribe-gathering” homecoming. Both events will focus on tribe-building, but the conference will feature cutting edge presenters honoring the upper-left’s quest for knowledge and development. The homecomings will certainly feed our knowledge centers, and we will create a lower-left heart-space – a dynamic field of inter-subjective sharing and support that will help us manifest our integral leadership visions.
